Abu Dhabi: The Follow-up Committee of the Initiatives of the UAE President has approved the funding of a number of infrastructure and urban development projects across various emirates at a total cost of Dh1.2 billion.

The decision comes in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the close monitoring by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The projects were approved during a meeting presided by Ahmad Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs.

The committee approved funding for the Shaikh Khalifa Central Hospital in Fujairah at a cost of Dh865.9 million. With a capacity of up to 300 beds, the hospital will provide 24-hour services to patients. It will consist of 11 specialised departments, outpatient clinics and a 32-bed emergency ward. The hospital will also have a three-storey rehabilitation centre housed in a separate building and 673 parking spots.

The committee also approved a number of infrastructure and road projects, which include the awarding of a new road project linking the Shaikh Khalifa Road from Maliha Road passing though Al Madam up to Al Shuwaib, valued at Dh323 million.

The initiative also includes funding for a number of internal roads and parking lots in residential complexes in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah at a cost of Dh12.4 million.

Al Za’abi emphasised the wise leadership’s keenness to continue launching quality projects aimed at enhancing the welfare of citizens and developing infrastructure in all areas of the country. He also highlighted support from Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and his close follow up to ensure the implementation of projects in accordance with the highest of international standards.
