Dubai: Rengith Vasudevan, editorial assistant at Gulf News, has launched a novel in Malayalam in the Indian state of Kerala.

A work of fiction, the 125-page book titled Gramavathil has been published and distributed by Olive Publications.

The story revolves around a retired army officer who returns to his native village Manalur to improve the lot of its people.

Narrating the developments as a bystander among the locals, Vasudevan drives home a strong message of how men in uniform are capable of not only protecting the country but also transforming a community at the grassroots level.

“This is a story about a village where love and goodness reign. It helps create awareness of how one ought to live in harmony with nature. Each chapter reminds us of how both politics and society should sincerely work for the upliftment of the common man,” said Vasudevan.

Around 500 people attended the book launch held in Manalur.
