I have been working with a company in Abu Dhabi for last 12 years as an accountant and my profession is accountant general in the contract. Now I got another offer but my present company is not accepting my resignation with a one-month notice period, and is asking me to continue for 3 more months. The new company will not wait for that long. I don't want to lose the new job. Could you please advice me on what I have to do in such a situation

If the contract is for an unlimited period, you may submit your resignation after providing the employer with notice and working during such notice period as specified in the employment contract. Once such period expires, the contract between the questioner and employer shall be considered as terminated as per the law. Therefore, the employer may not request your to work longer than the period mentioned in the employment contract and your may file a complaint when you complete the notice period if the employer refuses to give you your rights as well as cancel the residence visa as per the law.
