Dubai

I want to highlight the issues faced by residents of Dubai International City. Many times, people park their cars on the curbs or even along both sides of a road, as there is hardly any parking available after 7.30pm on a daily basis. The authorities are issuing fines, stating that these motorists are obstructing traffic, but the practice continues.

I have noticed, in several instances, that commercial or company-owned vehicles are parked overnight in the residential parking lots. They take up many of the spots, forcing residents to park incorrectly. This also reflects the fact that people might be sharing apartments, because only one parking spot is designated to one apartment.

It sometimes becomes very difficult for us to manoeuvre through the maze created by these vehicles parked incorrectly. Every time we leave our homes, especially on the weekends, we have to think twice about doing so because it means having to drive through a maze. Additionally, we aren’t sure whether we’ll be able to find a parking spot on our return.

I hope the authorities take note of this issue and find a permanent solution for this parking issue. When residing in an area, the least you can expect is to park your car properly, but this basic facility is not available to us. We cannot keep paying parking fines due to this issue of shortage of designated parking spots.
