Dubai: If you have innovative ideas on how to positively impact and better serve society, speak up through this new portal.

The Ministry of Community Development launched the “Social Innovation Platform” at the beginning of the UAE Innovation Week 2016 to encourage individuals, institutions, and the media to share their creative and innovative ideas that support social service in the UAE, and to come up with innovative solutions to the challenges that various community groups face. Innovation Week started on Sunday and runs until November 26.

The platform was launched as part of the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to concentrate efforts on social innovation to mark UAE Innovation Week 2016.

The platform, which is in both Arabic and English, will enable individuals and organisations in the UAE to share their opinions and innovative ideas to address societal challenges and find real solutions for them. The best ideas and solutions, as determined by a group of specialists and experts, will be implemented as projects, initiatives, or policies that support innovation in the UAE — in collaboration with the ministry’s partners.

The platform’s objective is to improve services for all segments of society — families, youth, the elderly, people with disabilities, children etc — in an effort to harmonise the UAE society and fully integrate all of its components. This is meant to accelerate the implementation of the ministry’s vision and objectives for a future where the UAE can be considered the “home of happiness”.

The platform raises awareness about the potential that these segments have to effect change in society at large. The ministry hopes that by getting various segments of society involved, the platform will inspire loyalty and the sense of belonging to the UAE.
