Karachi: Four men were killed and bodies of two Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activists were found in a gunny bag on Friday.

Three students were shot dead near Sakhi Hasan by unidentified assailants. One of the students died on the spot.

Ahle Sunnat wal Jammat identified the three as members of their group.

Earlier in the day, bodies of two missing MQM activists were found in gunny bags, even as the party observed protests across the country.

Police sources said that the men were identified as Mohammad Ali Khan and Syed Qasim Ali.

They further said that there was no mark of torture on their bodies, with post mortem reports detailing the asphyxiation as the cause of their deaths.

Khan was missing for 26 days after he was kidnapped from Kashmir Road where he was attending a wedding ceremony. Ali was kidnapped from Karachi airport when he was about to board a flight.

Both were members of MQM’s Orangi Town office. The bodies was found the second day of an MQM mammoth rally in Karachi against the extra judicial killings and detention of its activists in the pretext of an ongoing operation by the law enforcement agencies.

The MQM leaders warned the “plain clothed” officials to stop illegal abduction and killings otherwise they would be compelled to lash back.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain condemning the killings of the party workers said that it was the sheer violation of human rights.

In a statement he expressed his anguish over government’s apathy towards the illegal raids, detention and extra judicial killings of his party workers.

The new wave of violent killings has claimed 48 lives in the city during the current week. Doctors, lawyers, students of seminaries were targeted in the shooting. Besides, the activists of MQM, Awami National Party, Sunni Tehreek, Jamate Islami and Ahle Sunnat wal Jammat were also gunned down. A police official was also killed.
