Ras Al Khaimah: A 57-year-old Emirati woman died after a fire broke out in their villa in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday morning.

The woman's husband, 62, is in critical condition, while their son, 27, escaped with minor injuries.

Brigadier Abdullah Khamis Al Hadidi, deputy chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, said police and civil defence received an emergency call at 7:30am.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene of the incident.

Firefighters rescued the residents inside the burning villa. The injured people were transferred to the hospital where the Emirati woman later succumbed to her injuries.

The husband's condition was said to be serious, while the couple's son was in stable condition, officials said.

Ras Al Khaimah Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the deadly blaze.
