Abu Dhabi: Eight vehicles that had been left unattended across Al Falah area in the capital have been impounded, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City said on Tuesday.
The vehicles were impounded during recent municipal checks, and warnings were served on 12 owners whose cars were found to be unclean or abandoned in public spaces and parking lots.
The statement urged vehicle owners not to leave their cars unattended and unclean, as these can become eyesores that undermine public hygiene. Pursuant to Law No. 2 of 2012, inspectors initially post notices that require owners to clean their vehicles, or to move them if they have been parked in one spot for an extended period. Once the stipulated grace period expires, the cars are impounded and towed to the yard in Al Wathba.
Municipality inspectors also removed unauthorised billboards during the recent inspections, as these can pose a threat to public safety when they are haphazardly installed in public areas.
