Veteran actor Dilip Kumar celebrated his 94th birthday in the hospital on Sunday, where he has been admitted following an illness.
Kumar was admitted to Lilavati hospital on Tuesday following a swelling in his right leg.
In a series of posts on Twitter, the actor shared a picture of himself with his wife, actress Saira Banu, cutting a birthday cake while in his hospital bed.
In another post he said, “Thank you for all the beautiful and lovely messages. Your love and affection has been so enduring and so touching, your heartfelt messages on this medium brought tears to my eyes.”
Banu on Sunday said that Kumar will have a low-key birthday celebration due to his illness.
Writer Javed Akhtar visited Kumar at the hospital.
Akhtar’s wife, actress Shabana Azmi, tweeted a picture in which her husband is seen along with Kumar and Banu.
“Unfortunately, I wasn’t in town, but Javed Akhtar conveyed my deepest regards for the tallest thespian Dilip Kumar,” Azmi captioned the image.
