Dubai: A cleaner has been jailed for a year for exposing himself to a five-year-old schoolgirl while she was sitting in a couch at her house and molesting her.
The 23-year-old Pakistani man, who used to work as a cleaner at the girl’s house, touched her inappropriately while she was sitting in the couch in April.
Shortly after the incident, the girl’s father alerted the police and the cleaner was arrested.
The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the 23-year-old defendant of molesting the girl and breaching her modesty [by exposing himself in front of her].
According to the primary ruling, presiding judge Urfan Omar said the accused will be deported after serving the jail term.
When the accused appeared in court, he pleaded guilty and admitted that he molested the girl while she sat in the couch. However, he denied exposing himself to her.
The father testified that his wife told him that the cleaner had molested their daughter.
“My wife told me over the phone that our daughter was sitting in the couch when the accused molested her … my girl also told her mother that the defendant caused her pain. The defendant also asked her not to tell my wife what had happened,” the father said.
A police lieutenant testified to prosecutors that the defendant told him during questioning that he exposed himself to the girl and molested her.
The defendant has already appealed the primary judgement and hearing will be scheduled before the Appeal Court soon.
