Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi is seeking to lure 1.7 million hotel guests to the emirate this year, which is a 10 per cent increase from 2009, the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority said.

The number of hotel guests rose 16 per cent in the fourth quarter, the ADTA said in an emailed statement on Tuesday.

More than 1.5 million guests stayed in the emirate's hotels during 2009, a 2 per cent increase from 2008.

Domestic tourists accounted for 42 per cent of all hotel guests last year, while guests from the United Kingdom, the United States and India made up the bulk of international visitors, the statement said.
