Abu Dhabi: Injazat Data Systems, an information technology and business services company, is trying to position itself as a service provider to the government's defence and security sectors as well as the commercial sectors.

"Our primary focus for a very long time has been to make a very good impact within the Government of Abu Dhabi, which we have done, and then move into other sectors like banking, financial, oil and gas and health care," said Bala Pandalangat, chief executive officer of Injazat Data Systems.

Outsourcing deal

Injazat has been appointed by Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), the UAE's naval and commercial vessels supplier, under a five-year IT outsourcing deal, to support its critical IT requirements.

Under the terms of the agreement, Injazat will host ADSB's data at its 2,000 sqm data centre, which is located in Abu Dhabi's Mohammad Bin Zayed City. It will go into effect on March 1, 2011.

It has also signed an agreement with KBR, a global services company, to jointly pursue training outsourcing opportunities in the Middle East.

"Defence, by itself, is an industry where you think a lot before you want to outsource something, so these collaborations which we did and the work we started with ADSB and KBR will put us in the centre."

Philip Keating, Business Development Manager for Defence at Injazat said that the company wants to well-position itself as a quality service provider as the military starts to outsource its non-core military business. "We have the indication that it [outsourcing] has started already and we want to position ourselves as a quality service provider," he said.
