Dubai: The first shipment of iPad, the latest innovation by Apple, that arrived in the UAE on Wednesday, was sold out, according to its local supplier.
Alshop is retailing the products at Dh4,500 for 16GB, while prices for 32 GB and 64GB iPads are sold at Dh5,250 and Dh6,000, respectively. The prices include free delivery anywhere in the UAE.
Interested buyers can log on to the company’s website and express interest. Payments are upon delivery, a top company official confirmed.
“The first batch of 35 units are sold out already,” Sheriff Rizwan, CEO of Alshop told Gulf News.
“We are taking bookings for the next batch, which will include a few hundred units that will arrive in a day or two.”
Although the prices of iPad quoted here are much higher than the retail price in the UAE, Rizwan feels they will be sold out, as the enthusiasm on Apple’s latest product remains high.
The scenario reflects that of the iPhone craze three years ago.
