Dell’s got the swivel

Did we say Windows 8 onslaught? There’s an army of new laptops and tablets coming powered by the much-hyped Windows 8 OS and Dell’s XPS Duo 12 is so swiveling-ly cool, we thought we’d have to show you. The 12-inch screen of this laptop can be turned around on its back and folded down so you can use it like a tablet. Last week, we showed you the Asus Taichi, which came with two screens and which, when closed, turns into a nifty tablet. This one does two, only it’s got one screen which can swivel like crazy. No price details yet.

Still no love from Apple

Speaking of Windows Phone and Windows 8, Apple recently it’s very sexy iPad mini and fourth generation iPad 9.7-incher in an additional 34 countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.K. Still no love for the UAE, yet, with the Apple UAE website still touting the so-yesterday iPad third gen. We’re watching you Apple.

HTC leads Windows Phone onslaught

Bring on the Windows Phone onslaught. Once a rising star known for its winning designs, HTC has recently been struggling to put its neck above water as far as smartphones are concerned, thanks to competition. Now, with the spiffy new Windows Phone OS that’s ready to rock everyone’s world, the Taiwanese company might have a winner on their hands with the stunning Windows Phone 8X and the 8S by HTC, recently launched in the UAE. Featuring a range of features, including a Beats Audio hook-up, the Windows Phone 8X will be available from November 10, priced at Dh1,999 while the Windows Phone 8S by HTC will be available from early December 2012. No price announced yet.
