Dubai: Dubai’s government’s Department of Economic Development (DED) said on Monday that it issued 17.4 per cent more business licences in 2015 than a year earlier.

The DED issued a total of 22,691 licences in 2015 compared to 18,743 in 2014, according to its statement.

Of the licences issued in 2015, 17,131 were commercial licences, up 16.3 per cent year-on-year, according to an emailed statement.

There were 5,015 professional licences issued and 250 tourism licences in 2015, the department said.
