Dubai. Part time jobs, temporary jobs and flexible working hours for UAE nationals will be permitted for the first time in the history of the UAE.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) approved a policy in this regards.

The announcement was made on Monday by Aisha Al Suwaidi, CEO of HR Policies Sector (Acting) of the FAHR during a lecture titled, ‘Working Women in the Federal Government Sector in the UAE'. It was presented by The Dubai School of Government and its Gender and Public Policy Programme at the Convention Tower, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

The new policy is a result of a three-week long survey conducted on a variety of gender and public policy issues covering working hours, equal opportunity, maternity leave, work environment and day care child centres among others.

The consecutive published report was based on the survey of 7,876 working women in the Federal Government. Al Suwaidi told Gulf News, "We analysed the findings from the survey to access the needs for a new policy based on equal opportunity by connecting the employee performance to increments and career progression. Instead of thinking of differences based on gender, race and nationality, we are thinking on the lines of productivity, performance, attracting talent, and retaining and promoting it."
