Dubai: GOLD 101.3 FM, a new FM radio station in Malayalam, will be officially launched in the UAE on October 2. Catering to the south Indian community in the country, the station will operate under the Channel 4 Radio Network which is part of the Al Murad Group.
Abdullah Al Murad, chairman of the Al Murad Group, told Gulf News that the decision to launch a new channel was based on the fact that there's a large Malayalam speaking community in the UAE.
"To start a channel like this one, we had to do a lot of homework and research on the market and the population of the people living here," he said. He said that their target audience makes up about 700,000 people.
From a business point of view, Al Murad said that "it's worth it."
GOLD 101.3 will be the fifth station running under the Channel 4 Radio Network.
