Dubai: Du said on Sunday it is making all local and national calls from landline to landline free for its customers effective September 1, 2013.

Other packages offered by the UAE’s telecom operator include free international minutes to over 175 destinations, and access to more than 500 movie titles on demand.

“Customers will automatically start enjoying free local calls and international minutes, and all other associated benefits, from 1 September, 2013,” du said in a statement on Sunday, adding that customers subscribed to higher broadband speeds with du’s Talk and Surf or Talk, Surf and Watch packages will save up to 25 per cent.

They are offering something for free? There's always a hidden clause. It's unfair to shell out extra for the services you don't need.

Why is this price increase mandotory? I do not need the free international minutes, i do not need the free local calls, all i need is a broadband connection to keep me connected online, why are they forcing this extra fees on their customers instead of us choosing the option of selecting which service we want?

There must be option to select this offer or not, as I am not using national calls, why should I pay extra charges imposed, without any consumer's will. Its completely unreasonable. And Du should not say it Offer, they should say it Additional charges from 1st September.

I just Called DU customercare and shocked by the info given. They said this service will start from 1st September as mentioned here and it will be mandatory change for all DU users. There is a rent increase by 76 AED per month. This is increase in rent by 38% which really unwanted.

Beware of the tricky "free international minutes to over 175 destinations" it does not cover most of the popular countries from where people are dealing from here or living here. As once i got some free 25 minutes surprise with SMS saying only "free 25 minutes INTERNATIONAL" which deliberately didn't say "selected 175 destinations" and i called Ethiopia and lost a huge part of my credit. Upon contacting du CS, they said it is not included in 175 destinations and even though their sms didn't mention about any such exclusions, according CS executive it is our obligation to call and check each time we make a call to a different country whether the destination is free to call or not. Afghanistan is also not included, he informed. Then i learned that for du International = some countries other than UAE, but not all. So meaning of "National" could be selected emirates only , BEWARE!! lol

Du attract you with "too good to be true promotions" but your bill will increase unreasonable high. Calls made from Du Land line to Other network will be charge as usual?
