Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi-based Alanqa Motor Company, a new subsidiary of Advanced Integrated Systems, plans to roll out 300 ‘next-generation extreme vehicles' a year from its Musaffah plant for use by the military and the private sector, Khalfan Al Shamsi, head of Advanced Integrated Systems, said late on Monday at a news conference in the capital.

"The commercial production is going to start in six months. We have invested $8 million (Dh29 million) in research and development," Al Shamsi told reporters.

The design, manufacture and sale functions are being handled by Alanqa.

"We will be building the vehicles for the local and regional markets. We are not aiming to build more than 300 vehicles a year in the next five years," he said.

Three variants built for military use — V-Guard, Boomerang and BodyGuard — will be powered by engines generating 395hp to 635hp.

In the commercial segment there will be two variants, Jirnas and Chaikhman, the latter being a daily-use vehicle.

"The price of a military vehicle is $150,000. The commercial vehicles will be sold in the Dh500,000 to Dh1 million price range," Al Shamsi added.

The Alanqa line of cars will be formally unveiled at the Dubai International Auto Show on December 15.
