Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi will get busier during the F1 Grand Prix next year with the opening of an annual exhibition titled ‘The Collection.’ The exclusive exhibition is organised by the Abu Dhabi-based company Vision Arabia Exhibition Organisers and it will run for three days and three nights from October 31 to November 2 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The three-day invitation-only event that will bring together 100 high-end brands from around the world. It will also bring three of the world’s leading auction houses that will put host an auction each afternoon for some rare and exquisite art pieces, vintage cars and vintage jewellery.

The event is expected to bring 15,000 VIPs from the region and around the world.

Chris James, Founder and Managing Director of The Collection, told reporters that the concept of The Collection is not that of a shopping mall or a retail outlet. “It is an original concept and I don’t think anyone has ever put that kind of event together,” he said. The exhibition will run annually as of next year in Abu Dhabi and will later be taken to Monaco and Mumbai in 2014, as well as Hong Kong and upstate New York after that.

However, not everyone will get the “golden ticket” to the event. James said that the VIPs list is predominantly made up of the luxury brands’ best clients, in addition to the local and international dignitaries and royalties.

James said that it’s “not cheap” for the participating brands to be part of ‘The Collection.’ However, he did not reveal the rates at which the brands are paying.

He added that the timing works very well for Abu Dhabi and all those who will be coming for the event. “It’s Grand Prix week so there are some very exciting options.”

The exhibition will also run performances every evening for its VIP guests, including a confirmed private performance by legendary rocker Rod Stewart.
