Dubai:

Dubai is in need of more health care facilities, including its professionals to tap its growing needs of the population, an official at the Dubai Health Authority said.

“The number of health care professionals have increased dramatically and the demand is there,” Laila Al Marzouqi, director of health regulation department, Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

DHA expects 10 more hospitals to come up in Dubai in the next two years.

The DHA also plans to attract more medical tourists to the city. In the first half of 2015, the emirate hosted 260,000 domestic and international medical tourists. Dubai has about 3.4 million residents.

“If the patient feels that there is safety and emphasis on quality, then more and more patients would seek treatment in Dubai and would result in more and more facilities to open,” Laila said.
