Abu Dhabi: Etihad Airways flight cancellations remain in place to destinations in Europe and the UK until further notice, due to airports remaining closed following the spread of volcanic ash.

The airline is in close contact with the UK and European authorities, and once restrictions lift, Etihad will do everything possible to have passengers flying without delay.

Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer, James Hogan, said: "We encourage customers to check our website for the latest flight cancellations, or contact us on our dedicated 24 hour customer assistance lines if flying to these destinations."

Hogan said bookings for passengers currently in transit would be priority for the airline as services are reintroduced, and Etihad staff will be communicating directly with those that are staying in Abu Dhabi and other cities to advise them of their updated travel plans, once available.

"Our focus throughout this week has been on ensuring our guests are safe and comfortable during this challenging time. We will continue to ensure they are well looked after until services recommence and they arrive at their destination."

Etihad has been working closely with Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) to provide tours, discounted experiences and information for guests in Abu Dhabi affected by the disruptions, ensuring that guests in the emirate have the best possible experience while they are here, under the difficult circumstances.
