Dubai: The greatest doubles team of all time is set to thrill fans at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships this week.

Bob and Mike Bryan have won more titles than any other duo in the history of the game, claiming an incredible 104th crown just last week in Delray Beach, Florida, in what was their 155th final together.

Fittingly, the Americans won their 16th Grand Slam and 100th team title overall at the US Open last September, and the twins finished 2014 at No. 1 for a record 10th time in 12 years, with 10 titles in 13 finals.

In all the time they have been playing, they have never ventured to Dubai — but they were determined to put that right.

“It’s our first time in the Middle East,” said Bob. “We’ve heard great things about the tournament and we always said we want to play in the Middle East before we retire. Now we’re doing it.”

Their first opponents, in a draw that has already featured two of the greatest singles players ever to have played the game in Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, will be Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut and Joao Sousa of Portugal.

“The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships has long been widely regarded as one of the premier events to play on the ATP World Tour,” said Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice-Chairman of Dubai Duty Free, the tournament owners and organisers.

“Bob and Mike Bryan will go down in history as the most phenomenal team that has ever played the game and we are thrilled to welcome them to Dubai for the first time.”

The tournament continues until Saturday. Tickets for Wednesday’s play are available from the box office at the Dubai Tennis Stadium, Garhoud, which opens from 9am to 9pm daily. For more information, visit www.dubaidutyfreetennischampionships.com.
