The plot Looking to get away from his chaotic life as a journalist in 1960s America, Paul Kemp (Depp) relocates to Puerto Rico. Finding work with a local newspaper and quickly adapting to the slow-paced, rum-soaked island way of life, Paul becomes obsessed with the beautiful Chenault (Heard) a fellow American on the island, who is engaged to cutthroat businessman Sanderson (Eckhart), a man with visions of transforming Puerto Rico into a paradise for the rich and famous. But after Sanderson employs Paul to promote his corrupt scheme, the morally ambiguous Kemp finds himself faced with a difficult choice: Does he play ball and get rich or strike out and expose the villainous plan?
