Controversy-loving star Ke$ha has revealed that she believes wearing her own placenta in a necklace improves her extra-sensory perception.

The singer said she was given the necklace by her mother, saying, "My favourite keepsake is my placenta. My mom found in my basement, crushed it up, and made into a necklace that I wear every day to improve my psychic abilities.”

The 24-year-old star, who is currently preparing for her Get $leazy Tour of North America, also said she refuses to apologise for her bizarre acts on stage, even if some people find them controversial, because her personal motto is “be yourself, unapologetically, always”.

Talking about how intimate she gets with fans, the star recounted an incident at a recent show, when she pulled a boy onto the stage - something she does midway through every performance.

"He started crying and he told me that the only reason he was alive was because of my music," she said. "He'd never felt accepted for who he was, and through my songs he realised that there are people out there who will love him for exactly who he is.”

And it was this chance interaction that convinced the singer to ignore critics and focus on her fans. "I'm doing this to make people happy, and that's translating,” she said. “Quite frankly, that's the reason I think I was put on the planet this lifetime. I'm here to make music, so the fact that it's resulting in a positive change is the ultimate payoff for me."
