Al Merri said while social media networks offer great opportunities for development, they pose a serious challenge in case of their misuse.

“We want the event to be a platform to exchange creative ideas that boost the positive aspect of this growth, and insure its value to encourage positive energy in the society through influencers given their ability to communicate with a large number of followers, who view them as role models in many cases,” she said.

The summit will also honour the winners of the Arab social media influencers award. The award has 20 categories for individuals and organisations.
