Iconic Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano, the man behind the Final Fantasy game, will attend the first Japanese pop culture festival, Ani:me, to be held from October 27 to 29 at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

Amano will meet fans and bring some of his prized art collection, including his famed sculpture, The Panther, valued at more than $3.5 million (Dh12 million), which will be put up for sale.

The three-day event will also feature some of the best Japanese manga, cinema, music, games, fashion, food as well as traditional Japanese culture in Japan Culture Village. There will also be a cosplay (costume play) competition where two participants will get a chance to represent the UAE at the World Cosplay Summit 2017 in Japan.

Other artists confirmed include Melbourne-based comic book artist, Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz, cartoonist and illustrator Edwin Huang, international cosplayer Phil Mizuno, voice actor Todd Haberkor, artist Steven D’Onforio, and Japanese singer Cuushe.
