Ajman: Emirati motorists will no longer receive a 50 per cent discount on radar fines in Ajman, police said on Monday.

The discount will not apply for radar violations recorded from September 4 onwards, although the discount will stand for offences registered before that.

The decision to impose the full amount of the traffic fine is taken to enhance road safety, the police said.

The discounts had been given to motorists since 2003. Emiratis motorists received a 50 per cent discount for up to 12 violations in a year.

Brigadier Shaikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, said Monday’s decision aims to achieve targets set by the Ministry of Interior to reduce accidents and the fatality rate.

He urged motorists to abide by traffic rules and stick to speed limits.
