Dubai: An accountant has been accused of molesting two women cleaners whom he had hired to clean his flat.

The 50-year-old Iranian accountant was said to have called up a cleaning services company and asked them to send two cleaners to tidy up his place in August.

The accountant then breached the two Filipina cleaners’ privacy and modesty and groped them while they were cleaning his flat in Al Nahda.

The suspect pleaded not guilty and dismissed his accusations when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday.

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the suspect abused the fact that the cleaners were in his flat when he molested them both.

One of the cleaners, 24, testified to prosecutors that the suspect hired two cleaners to go to his place and tidy it up.

“When we reached his residence, we split the tasks … I cleaned the bedrooms while my co-worker was supposed to tidy up the kitchen. Ten minutes later, my co-worker came to me and cautioned me to be careful because the suspect had groped her while she was cleaning. A few minutes later, the suspect came to me and started talking sweetly to me … then he touched me and left. He came back a little later and molested me again. My co-worker and I rushed out of the flat and went to the nearest police station and reported what had happened,” she claimed to prosecutors.

The other Filipina cleaner confirmed her countrywoman’s statement.

The suspect was cited as admitting to prosecutors that he was present in his residence at the time the cleaners were tidying up the place.

The trial continues.
