Abu Dhabi: The UAE will host the Global Central Bureau of Interpol in Abu Dhabi, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Interior, represented by Brigadier Hamad Ajlan Al Amimi, director-general of the Federal Criminal Police at the ministry, and the Interpol Foundation represented by Elias Murr, president of the Board of the Interpol Foundation, signed a joint declaration making Abu Dhabi the host for the Global Central Bureau of Interpol.

The move comes in recognition of Abu Dhabi’s prestigious position and its global presence as it will serve as a global platform for launching a number of developed projects.

The ceremony was attended by Lt Gen Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Dr Rashid Sultan Al Khodr, vice-chairman of the Legal Council at the ministry, Col Mohammad Hamid Bin Dalmouj Al Daheri, Strategy and Performance Development director-general at the ministry, and Abdul Wahid Ahmad Al Hammadi, Head of the Interpol Department at the ministry, as well as other senior officials.
