The idea for Art*ry Space, a multifunctional art facility in Al Quoz, Dubai, was concieved when a creative group of people — ranging from sculptors, fine artists, designers, photographers, illustrators and writers — met and shared their dreams over coffee and breakfast every weekend for a year. Art*ry has adopted a multifarious approach to facilitate meaningful interactions between artists and art enthusiasts. “Our idea is to integrate art into the everyday lives of people, to create a culture where visiting an art gallery is as mainstream as visiting the cinema, or the shopping mall,” says Haseena Suresh, one of the founder members of Art*ry.

Today, Art*ry Space has on its calendar a host of activities ranging from art workshops for the family to exhibitions by world-renowned artists. An interactive programme, Let’s Talk, provides a platform for artists to interact with the audience. Earlier sessions with eminent names from the art world such as Bose Krishnamachari, Riyaz Komu and Chitravanu Mazumdar from India, Emirati artist Mohammed Kazem and Italian artist Christiana de Marchi were received well by art lovers in the region.

Samiah Faridi, a Lahore-born artist currently based in Dubai will be the guest for the next session scheduled for September 20.
