Succumbs to ‘severe injuries' on arrival at hospital
Dubai: A 48-year-old Egyptian man succumbed to his injuries after he accidentally reversed his car into a new water canal on Al Khail road.
Captain Yahya Hussain Mohammad, head of the Sea Rescue section at Dubai Police said the accident occurred on Monday evening.
The vehicle was parked in front of a plastic barrier and close to the water canal.
However, the motorist reversed his vehicle right into the water canal, Captain Mohammad said.

"The Egyptian man worked [at] a nearby work site, in Business Bay, close to where the accident happened. People near the scene of the accident dived and managed to get him out of the car.
"An ambulance unit immediately took him to the hospital but unfortunately he succumbed to his severe injures upon arrival to the emergency unit," he said.
A Sea Rescue unit headed by Lieutenant Khalid Al Shimmari from the section was present at the accident scene to examine the cause of the fall and to remove the vehicle from the canal.
