Scores killed in Somalia bomb attacks
Mogadishu: Separate bomb attacks targeting the army in Somalia have killed nearly 50 people, residents said.
In one clash on Friday, Ethiopian troops opened fire on civilians on a road out of Mogadishu when a vehicle in their convoy was bombed.
At least 38 people were killed and 16 others injured in the incident.
In a separate attack, about five people were killed when a roadside bomb exploded as government troops checked out a street ahead of a presidential motorcade.
President Abdullahi Yusuf, Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussain and the parliamentary speaker were heading to Ethiopia for talks. They later managed to leave the country, officials said.
