Police to question Olmert again over bribery charges

Jerusalem: Israeli police will question Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for a fourth time on Friday as part of an investigation into alleged bribe-taking and fraud, a police spokesman said on Thursday.

"Olmert will be questioned on Friday at his official residence in Jerusalem," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

Olmert said on Wednesday he would bow out of a September vote within his Kadima party to pick his successor but vowed to pursue peace talks with the Palestinians and Turkish-mediated negotiations with Syria until his last day in office.

Police suspect Olmert of fraud and plan to widen an investigation into allegations he took bribes from an American Jewish businessman to look at whether he made duplicate claims for travel expenses.
