Tikrit: Three mortar shells landed on Saturday near voting stations in Tikrit on Saturday as Iraqi provincial elections were held, police said.

There were no reports of casualties in the attacks, which occurred despite heavy security across the country.

Police said a vehicle was set on fire in one of the mortar attacks in Tikrit, north of Baghdad.

The closest a mortar landed to a voting centre was 200 metres, a police source said.
