Sana'a: A special appeal court ordered on Monday the immediate release of two Yemenis accused of attempting to assassinate Edmond Hull, former US ambassador to Yemen.

Chaired by Judge Mohammad Al Hakimi, the State Security appeal court ordered the release of 17-year-old Hezam Al Mas, and 18-year-old Khalid Al Halylah.

The appeal court upheld the primary verdict which stipulated that the two accused be jailed three years from the date of arrest. They were arrested on the same day of their attempt to assassinate Hull in December 2004.

On May 2007, the primary court, chaired by Judge Najeeb Al Qaderi, sentenced Al Mas and Al Halylah to three years in prison from the date of arrest.
