Cairo: A renewed campaign against Saudi Arabia and its leaders target the kingdom’s “pivotal” role and future vision, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Gargash has said.
His remarks come after reports accused Saudi Arabia of hacking into the cellphone of Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder and owner of The Washington Post, an accusation vehemently denied by Riyadh.
“These malicious accusations will fail as previous campaigns did,” Dr Gargash tweeted without specifying the charges against Saudi Arabia.
“Riyadh’s pivotal role and its future vision are the ones targeted with their implied positive changes for Saudi Arabia and the region,” he added.
In recent years, Saudi Arabia has opened up to the world and introduced dramatic social and economic changes aimed at shedding the kingdom’s ultra-conservative image and diversifying its oil-depending economy.
