Muscat: Starting from from January 1, 2022, business activities in Seeb Central Market will be limited to Omanis. Seeb Central Market is a bustling souq that sells mainly fresh vegetables and fruits apart from other grocery items and provisions.
The Omanisation drive has been accelerated in the Sultanate, with many professions now earmarked strictly for Omanis, which were hitherto an expatriate domain. The drive ensures that expatriates will be replaced with trained Omani personnel. The Muscat Municipality owns the market.
In pursuance of the above, all contract-holders with Muscat Municipality must correct their agreements before the mentioned date. The Municipality and the Ministry of Labour called on everyone involved to cooperate fully to support Omani candidates.
Currently, expats make up the majority of the Seeb Central Market’s workers.
