Cairo: Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz has issued two decrees, including the appointment of an advisor to head the country’s competition agency.
The Saudi monarch has decreed appointing Ahmed bin Abdulkarim Al Khulaifi, an advisor at the royal court, as the board chairman of the General Authority for Competition, the Saudi news agency SPA reported.
Established in 2004 under the name of the Competition Protection Council, the General Authority for Competition aims to promote fair competition and exposes monopolistic practices.
In January, Al Khulaifi was relieved of his duty as the governor of the Saudi central bank and appointed an advisor at the royal court. He had held the position of the central bank governor for nearly five years starting from 2016.
The second royal decree, issued on Saturday, relieved Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Jasser from his post as an advisor at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, SPA reported without giving details.
