Abu Dhabi: Police have arrested two Saudis, one of them with COVID-19, for flouting isolation rules, officials said.
“A Saudi COVID-19 patient was arrested after he was seen in a video wandering in a Ha’il shopping mall in violation of the isolation rules,” said Captain Tariq Al Nassar, spokesperson for Ha’il Police.
The man who took the video was also arrested, Captain Al Nassar added.
He said anyone who deliberately transmits the COVID-19 infection to others face jail time of up to five years and or a fine of up to SR500,000.
The penalty is doubled if the offence is repeated and a foreigner would also be deported after serving the jail term and banned from re-entering the country, Captain Al Nassar said.
