Cairo: A Saudi court has sentenced a man to death after it convicted him of spying for Iran, Dubai-based television Al Arabiya reported Wednesday.
The man who was not identified was convicted of “betraying the country and safety”, the broadcaster added without details.
The sentence is preliminary, Al Arabiya added.
The reported verdict comes two days after another man had been sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia on similar charges. Seven Saudi nationals were sentenced to jail in that case.
Saudi Arabia and other allied Gulf countries have repeatedly accused Iran of meddling in their domestic affairs, and uncovered Iran-linked spying or terror cells.
Tensions have recently heightened between Riyadh and Tehran after an attack in September on key Saudi oil facilities that the kingdom blamed on Iran.
