Charity foundation launches campaign to financially support Qatari youth wanting to get married
Manama: A Qatari charity foundation has launched the second phase of its campaign to support Qatari youth unable to get married due to the high costs.
The Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) last year implemented the first stage of the campaign that provided financial and psychological support to young Qatari men and women who wished to get married. It also helped meet the high marriage expenses.
RAF said that it will soon start receiving applications for assistance and once the selection process is completed, the applicants will undergo a training programme to familiarise them with the social, psychological, legal and financial aspects of marriage and married life, Qatari daily The Peninsula reported on Sunday.
Each winning applicant will be given a financial assistance worth QR50,000 to cover the marriage expenses.
RAF will also coordinate with hotels and other parties to reduce wedding ceremony costs.
According to the charity foundation, 280 young men and women are on the list amid expectations that more youth will come forward when the application process is opened.
Last year, RAF spent QR17 million and helped 259 youth get married through the project.
