Cairo: Omani police had arrested four Asians attempting to smuggle drugs into the country on the sea, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said.
The four were arrested by police of the Al Batinah North Governorate and the coastguard while infiltrating into Oman on the sea, the ROP added in a statement. One smuggler was arrested upon getting on the coast, while the three others were caught after the coastguard patrols chased after the smuggling boat. Fourteen kilograms of drugs were seized, the ROP said.
According to the Omani law, drugs offences are punishable by up to death and a maximum fine of OMR50, 000.
