Muscat: Oman’s Supreme Committee has announced that schools in Oman will open for students for blended education from January 17.
The details of the blended learning will be unveiled in the coming days by the Ministry of Education. The resumption will be subject to observing strict mandatory procedures including social distancing, and all other precautionary measures that are in place now. Strict health protocols will have to be followed by teachers, students, administrative staff and parents.
In an earlier press conference, Dr Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education, had said that the academic year 2020/2021 will be a blended learning year, with both online and offline classes to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff. Social distancing, wearing of masks, washing hands at frequent intervals, will be mandated for everyone coming to the schools.
One parent on social media said that this was the right way to go forward, putting fears aside and taking the necessary precautions. “The best form of education is when the student watches the teacher in person and learns, which has no substitute.”
