Dubai: All visa holders will be allowed to enter the Sultanate, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced.

In a statement issued today, the CAA said that after coordination with the concerned authorities, all visa holders will be allowed to enter the Sultanate.

On April 7, 2021, the authority issued a circular restricting the entry into the Sultanate to Omani citizens and holders of residency visas issued until April 5 2021 only.

Over the past few months, Oman has witnessed an unprecedented spike in COVID-19 infections, which caused the government to sound the alarm.

So far, the country of almost five million people, has reported 176,668 COVID-19 infection including 1,821 deaths and 156,845 recoveries.

Last week, Oman’s Ministry of Health said that the occupancy rate in the intensive care units for COVID-19 patients has reached 100 per cent at several hospitals across country.

The total number of patients admitted to hospitals in the Sultanate for COVID-19 has reached 751, the largest number since the start of the pandemic, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammad Al Saeedi, Minister of Health revealed.
