Kuwaitis told to avoid hunting trips in Mauritania

Hunting has been banned in the northern and eastern parts of Mauritania this year, says Kuwait's foreign ministry

Last updated:

Kuwait's foreign ministry has urged Kuwaiti citizens to avoid going on hunting trips in the northern and eastern parts of Mauritania.

In a brief statement, the ministry said that the Mauritanian authorities had informed that hunting had been banned in the areas for this year, but without further elaborations.

Gulf nationals have traditionally travelled to the North African countries of Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya to hunt birds and gazelles during the winter.

Hunting trips usually last from a few days to several weeks.
