Dubai: Over 29,000 Indian nationals were repatriated from Bahrain to India through the Vande Bharat Mission, which is now in its seventh phase, the Indian Embassy in Bahrain said.
This milestone achievement was reached when the 100th flight took off carrying 120 passengers on Sunday.
India Embassy tweeted that the mission included over 87 Gulf Air flights. This is in addition to the over 5,000 Indian nationals who were flown back through the ‘Air Bubble’ arrangement between India and Bahrain signed earlier in September.
The deal allows airlines of both countries to operate international passenger flights with certain restrictions. Bahraini and Indian nationals holding a valid visa can make use of the opportunity.
Till date, Vande Bharat Mission has brought home more than 1,686,000 nationals to India. In phase 6 of the mission, which lasted 34 days, a total of 129,197 passengers flew back to India with VBM chartering 904 flights. Overall Air India group operated 3,126 flights to bring back 529,099 passengers during the phase 6 of VBM.
