A three-year-old boy was stabbed to death by his 31-year-old father in Southwark, south London
London: A three-year-old boy was stabbed to death by his 31-year-old father at a council flat in Southwark, south London.
The Independent UK reports that the father of two is alleged to have killed his three-year-old son and then tried to kill his wife and himself after she said she wanted a divorce. The incident took place at 6:15 pm on Monday.
The boy was discovered with multiple stab wounds after his mother aged 28 called the police and said that her husband was trying to kill the children.
When police arrived at their flat, the boy was dead, the mother had been stabbed in the neck and the father, who turned the knife on himself, had "serious stab wounds". Their other child, a 17-month-old girl, was unhurt.
The mother was taken to hospital and later discharged. The father, aged 31, was also taken to hospital with "serious stab wounds". He was arrested on suspicion of murder last night.
The death is being investigated by officers from the Child Abuse Investigation Command.
