Greek police stage rally after riots, terror attacks

Last updated:

Athens: More than 300 police officers are attending a demonstration against violence in Athens, following major riots in Greek cities last month and attacks against police by a Greek terrorist group.

Many of the protesters were in uniform as they gathered on Thursday in Athens' main Syntagma Square.
The rally follows riots sparked by the fatal police shooting of a teenage boy on December. 6.

In the wake of the riots, police were targeted in shooting attacks, leaving one officer seriously wounded. The far-left militant group Revolutionary Struggle has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
