4 policemen and 2 rebels die in clashes

Moscow: Four policemen and two rebels were killed in fighting in Russia's southern Chechnya region according to Interfax news agency which quoted the local Interior Ministry as saying on Saturday.

It said a statement issued by the ministry stated that clashes between a police unit and rebels took place in the mountains of the Vedeno region.

The ministry said police reinforcements arrived at the scene.
